Disappointing Experience with the Hiring Process – A Call for Transparency and Ethics I fully recognize that hiring is a competitive process, and rejections are a natural part of any job search. I’ve experienced many throughout my career and have always viewed them as opportunities to learn and grow. However, what left me disappointed in my recent experience with S+C LLP was not the rejection itself, but the lack of transparency and professionalism in how the process was handled. I applied for an IT Manager role and had what I believed was a positive and encouraging pre-screening interview. My experience was acknowledged as impressive, and I left the conversation feeling optimistic. The following day, the HR representative informed me via email that she had forwarded my resume and interview notes to the hiring manager for further consideration. However, over a week later, I received another email stating that I would not be moving forward, as the "IT Partner" had decided not to proceed with my candidacy. This raised serious questions about the consistency and alignment within their hiring process. If HR evaluated my profile positively and advanced it to the hiring manager, what exactly changed? If my qualifications genuinely did not match the role, that should have been filtered earlier. The situation suggests either a lack of clarity in internal communication or a disconnect between HR and the hiring decision-makers. I respectfully asked HR for constructive feedback — specifically, where I may have fallen short compared to the selected candidate. Was it my resume? My experience? A particular skill set? Unfortunately, I never received a clear answer, despite following up multiple times. Each response remained vague and generic, avoiding the core of my inquiry. Even a simple explanation like, “The selected candidate aligned with 90% of our criteria, while your profile matched about 70%,” would have been both fair and appreciated. That kind of honest, respectful communication shows integrity. Instead, I was left with templated responses that provided no value or clarity — all of which I still have on record. To put this in perspective, I’ve been rejected by other companies where the feedback was thoughtful and specific. One firm even pointed out the exact qualifications that didn’t align, and did so in a way that felt respectful and helpful. I responded with gratitude, because that's how rejection should be handled — with professionalism and dignity. I'm not upset by the outcome. I’m disappointed by the lack of transparency and accountability. If this is indicative of how S+C LLP operates behind the scenes, I feel reassured that this was not the right fit for me. Candidates invest time, effort, and hope into these processes — and in return, deserve honesty and clarity. I hope S+C LLP takes this as constructive feedback and considers improving the candidate experience for future applicants. Thank you.
