James S. My daughters were illegally taken into Canada, and I had to work through the Hague Convention to get them back. When it came time to find representation, I worked with Attorney James Marks. He was thorough and understood what needed to be given to the Superior Court to help get my daughters back to their home. I was very grateful for the work and time we had to work on this case together. In the end, we got my daughters back to their home in the United States. The Superior Court and Attorney Marks played a huge role in this success. I would highly recommend Attorney Marks as a representative choice in these matters. He made himself available at any times necessary to get our case into the hands of the court with all necessary evidence and documentation. Thank you James as a friend and great attorney!

James was incredible to work with , he’s very knowledgeable about the law and your rights , professional and patient . He worked countless hrs on my case and I was extremely happy with the end result . I would highly recommend him to anyone going through a custody battle or family law . He answered phone calls and replied to emails extremely quickly and always had time for me . James also tried to save me as much money as possible by guiding me and helping me through paper work that I could do myself which was a huge help . Thank you James!

In my experience, what makes James exceptional, besides many other characteristics of a skillful family lawyer, is that he is not scared of dealing with unfamiliar situations. In fact, he proved me to be capable of processing such situations fast and strategize very efficiently. My main concern, besides the settlement, was another divorce that I needed to go through in my home country whose judicial system is complicated, unilateral and very different from the Canadian system and I was looking for solutions through Canadian laws to make that part easier for me. The first time I met James, he patiently listened to me, honestly told me that he was somewhat, but not fully, familiar with what I was talking about, but he also reassured me that he was willing to help me approaching my concerns. And he handled the case really well. Over those several months that I worked with him, I always felt that I was part of a capable and reliable team. James was always supportive and compassionate, and at the same time realistic and fair. His generous advice in several situations helped me make correct decisions when I was still too emotional. He was firm where it was needed and was flexible when it would help. Anytime I went to his office with new questions and concerns, I left there confident of having a reasonable solution. The end result was a just settlement, with conditions that made my other divorce move fast and straight forward, without me needing to sacrifice my rights as a human (that was what I was looking for). I confidently recommend Mr. James Marks and his compassionate and helpful assistant, Rachel, to any friend who needs legal help. They are a trustworthy team.

If you are looking for an excellent family lawyer fighting for your cause and on your side who truly cares, I would highly recommend James Marks. After numerous discouraging initial consultations with various lawyers about my daughter’s father, who was blatantly neglecting to fulfill his paternal responsibilities, I was on the brink of giving up altogether until I met with James. I ended up retaining him with the dual objective of gaining sole custody of my daughter as well as receiving appropriate child support. From my initial meeting with him until the end, James proved to be nothing but attentive, honest and completely dedicated to my case. He took the time to discuss and explain the process involved in detail and made me feel like his most important client. James’ calm, personable and friendly exterior might fool you – his fighter-spirit, tenacity, diligence and professional knowledge are exceptional. I was very impressed with how well James captured my situation right away, which was reflected in the skillfully written drafts and motions and meticulously prepared court appearances. He works closely with his assistant who is very conscientious and accommodating at all times - my inquiries and emails were answered promptly and I was consistently kept well informed. Despite no one "enjoys" going through a divorce, James made the process easy and smooth. He is incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, professional to the core but also adds the personal touch. He was also efficient, allowing me to do what I can on my own and only taking payment for that which he did for me. When first contacting lawyers he was the only one who called me back personally and did not require any money just to preliminarily discuss my case before retainment. If you're stuck in the unenviable position of needing a divorce lawyer, I cannot recommend him enough, worth every penny.
