Stear clear for family law unless you want to pay a lot of money for simple things you can easily do yourself. Shockingly poor 'advice', do not follow instructions, nor do they care about your predicament. My initial lawyer left the practice, I wasn't even informed right away, and it took a month or so before any 'work' was attempted on my case despite time being extremely important. If you're looking for support, advice, and help navigating the process...you will not find it here. In a partner's own words “all I can do is write letters”.

Derek is the WORST lawyer. I gave him my simple family case and he messed up the whole thing. He overcharged me for the redo my application which was completed by my previous lawyer and changed by himself from the correct information to wrong information without reading my whole story. I had to pay him to changing back all the wrong info he did by himself back to the correct information. He charged me several times, each time half an hour call to opposite lawyer just for me to know that opposite lawyer was not yet retained. He promised me to help me but at the end messed up everything. The whole application after 6 months was not served while he confirmed that it was served. He kept saying the motion material was ready to submit but 3 months after he was still working on it. He took my Legal Aid and told me to sign the minute settlement which does not have any favorable terms for me. He couldn’t help me nothing but putting me in a very disadvantage position. He couldn’t even ask for me nothing from child support which my daughter was entitled to. He took legal aid and promise to help me on case conference and 4 days before case conference, he said he was busy and told me to find another lawyer while it is so difficult and take a lot of time to change lawyer from legal aid and he knew my matter was very urgent. He just took money and really didn’t find hard for me. As a lawyer, I couldn’t believe that he told me not to tell Legal Aid that I paid him before because he wanted to take advantage of Legal aid money. He told me different thing from time to time. Before taking my legal aid, he said let the opposite side prepare the minute settlement at their own cost. After taking my legal aid, he told me that he needed to prepare Final order and told me to sign it without changing anything if I want to get passport for my daughter. Because of him now, i’m in very bad situation dealing with my simple matter just because he told me to sign the final order and minute settlement which is not the best interest of me and my daughter. If you don’t want to get the bad experience and go through all this battle with depression and anxiety, please consider while come to Derek. It is very bad experience for me.

We dealt with Reshana Singh for our sale of townhouse and purchase of condo. She was extremely efficient, professional, and thorough in all aspects of the sale and purchase. She always kept us up-to-date as the closings progressed. Amazing service!!!!
