I did not retain the firm for any services, I was not under the impression that I would be charged for these conversations. At the time of conversating, I was looking to retain the lawyer. When I decided not to retain yet, they decided to charge me. It makes more sense to tell a prospective client of the fees ahead of time. Also, I spoke to Rachel and she told me there wouldn't be a charge. I had a bad experience because I wanted to retain Rachel, and we started the consultation and then after hearing about my situation she told me she was no longer available. I feel judged and perhaps discriminated against. I was charged $1000 for nothing. They charged my credit card with no consent.

They hung me out to dry... Paid for consultation. Didn't really know what I was looking for but have learned much from this experience. I gave them a retainer to enlist their services. They charged me for a few hours work b4 they closed my file because the Lawyer moved on but had no one to replace him. They reimbursed whatever I had left on retainer. I recieved court documents shortly after from the other party's lawyer dated 3 months prior to closing my file. They hanged me out to dry.

Do NOT use this law firm for mediation/arbitration - they will trap you in your agreement, draw it out and cost you thousands of additional dollars. They are useless and should be stopped by the law society. I believe Phil Epstein to be one of the most unethical people I have ever dealt with in my life. Avoid at all costs.

Philip M. Epstein is one of the most caring, compassionate and principled lawyers. He has done tireless work that has impacted children throughout Canada and beyond. T Deba is a total phony, a deadbeat, and a hack who hides behind a pseudonym to attack lawyers, like Phil, years after he settled a case with a pittance of the support he should have paid to his former spouse. Everyone who has come near him has been burned for simply doing their job and pointing out the obvious to him: support your child and stop trashing your child's mother. That he fails to get that basic fact years later, trashing Phil's good name while he fights for his life is indicative of his unethical and narcissistic personalty. Phil deserves all of the accolades and recognition that has he earned for 50+ years of making a difference in Canadian children's lives. Shame on you, T. Deba. Get a life and grow up.

If you are a woman, DO NOT USE PHIL EPSTEIN FOR MEDIATION. He is a horrible mediator, a chauvinist, a bully, and will only end up costing you thousands of dollars in wasted money. He likes to threaten you with the cost of arbitration, couldn't come up with a novel solution or compromise if his life depended on it, and doesn't seem to be able to come up with anything fair. Check out lawyers ratingz for more unbiased reviews before making a decision!!!!
