I’ve been attempting to take interim occupancy of my condo for over a week, and the delays have been both unreasonable and frustrating. Leonard and his legal team have employed what I would describe as obstructive and unprofessional tactics, seemingly dragging the process out further after we raised valid concerns about their approach. Communication has been virtually nonexistent. Despite multiple follow-ups, Megan Reeves, Joseph, and others on the team have either taken several days to respond or ignored messages entirely. We’ve already sent all necessary funds well ahead of schedule, yet there’s been no progress or transparency. It’s particularly disappointing considering Leonard’s past leadership role in a professional legal association—one would expect a higher standard from his office. I’ve begun the process of filing formal complaints with the CBA and LSO and am prepared to escalate this further to raise awareness among other buyers.

If it were possible to give a negative star rating, I would. I have been attempting to take interim occupancy of my condo for over a week now, and the experience has been extremely frustrating. Leonard and his legal team have demonstrated what I believe to be predatory practices, seemingly prolonging the process unnecessarily—especially after we raised concerns about their conduct. The communication has been especially poor. Megan Reeves, Joseph, and others involved have taken several days to respond—or in many cases, have not responded at all. Despite having transferred all required funds well in advance, we are still waiting without clarity or updates. It is deeply concerning that Leonard, a former chair of a professional legal organization, oversees a team that exhibits such a lack of basic communication and client service. I am in the process of filing formal complaints with both the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) and the Law Society of Ontario (LSO). Given the seriousness of this issue, I am also considering escalating this publicly to ensure other buyers are aware—especially during these uncertain economic times. If others have had similar experiences, I would welcome the opportunity to connect.

Terrible experience with this firm actual fee should not exceed amount. This firm triple their fees and didn’t keep their word. Commercial closing fees were sent to me after closing. I have many closing on buildings never experienced this. I am very concerned the public to use this firm for any Purpose.

Horrible and unprofessional experience dealing with Maria T from this law firm. Her communication is unethical and unrational as she have absolutely no people skills. Run if you get this person she has some mental blockage she's dealing with and taking it out on people.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

While it turns out I didn't need legal representation, when I spoke with Michael Lickver I knew I was getting an honest answer. I feared a huge bill for a single question (Hollywood jokes mixed with personal stereotyping!). I ended up getting excellent direction and true concern from Michael. If I were ever in need of a lawyer - there isn't anyone else I would call. Don't base your choice of lawyers on a Google review...people will laugh at you but do use this review as a reason to call and ask for Michael. He will then give you plenty of reasons to continue with Bennet Jones.
